The Challenge
Advocates, Inc. wanted to provide a content and expertise-rich community for State and federal legislative staff to engaged in the current energy debate. The idea was to inform those creating legislation or searching for energy solutions by aggregating great, dynamic content. Next, the plan was to introduce and profile experts in the field of alternate energy so legislators could involve them in their work. The Energy Caucus broadly focuses on alternate sources of energy such as solar, wind power, biomass fuels, nuclear power, geothermal, natural gas, petroleum while also offering information and commentary about going green.
The Solution
The Energy Caucus connects interested officials with experts in a specialized field of alternate energy that they can consult with. A geographic emphasis helps users identify experts in their districts who can define local issues and successes. iBelong’s engagement team created energy “content centers” to aggregate information about several broad energy topics that round out the expert content.
The Results
iBN’s solution enabled Advocates, Inc. to realize their vision of connecting lawmakers and other interested stakeholders with energy experts. It also provides a forum for energy experts to work with each other and be able to share their expertise with non-scientific stakeholders in the national energy solutions debate. Advocates Inc. uses the iBelong platform’s content-centric community building concept to create other unbranded communities for their customers who are interested in mobilizing individuals at a local level around issues and solutions.
